HANOVER’S HOME RACE COURSE – The Friends of Hanover Crew Boathouse (View Google Map)

FoHC Rowing Facility: 108 Lyme Road, Hanover, NH 03755

Driving North on I-91:
  Take Exit 13 (Norwich/Hanover). Turn right and cross the bridge over the Connecticut River. Drive up the hill (West Wheelock Street) and to through the traffic light.  Take the next left, going up alongside the Dartmouth Green, and continue straight past the white church.  At the traffic light, continue straight, which becomes Rte 10 North. Follow directions below.

From I-93, take I-89 North:
 Take Exit 18 at Lebanon, NH and turn right on Rte 120 toward Hanover. Follow Rte 120 past the hospital and into Hanover, continuing straight through the traffic light at the Hanover Co-op/Mobil gas station. Proceed 2 more traffic lights and turn right onto Rte 10 North.

  • Follow Route 10 north to the first traffic circle.
  • For Garapay parking:  turn right at the traffic circle onto Reservoir Road (small Co-op market on the corner) – park in the first lot on the right.
  • For Richmond Middle School parking:  go straight through the first traffic circle, RMS is shortly ahead on the right.
  • For the FoHC Boathouse (ONLY for rowers, buses, trailers, and spectators with disabilities):  2.3 miles north of the 1st traffic circle.  Go straight through the 1st and 2nd traffic circles; FoHC Boathouse is on your left, look for the big white barn.
  • Buses – should drop rowers off at the FoHC Boathouse entrance and go back and park at the Richmond School.
  • Trailers – drive very slowly into the FoHC Boathouse driveway and park behind the barn.

 

Important:  All spectators must park at the Richmond Middle School or Garipay lot on Reservoir Road.  Hanover Police will ticket cars parked along Rte 10 or the adjacent field.

 

ST PAUL’S SCHOOL, CONCORD 

Take I-89 south to Exit 2/Clinton Street. At the end of the ramp turn right onto Clinton Street.  Follow signs and take the first left onto Langley Parkway.  Continue to the end, and turn left onto Pleasant Street.  Go about ½ mile and turn left at the St. Paul’s sign onto Dunbarton Road. The boathouse and Turkey Pond are at the very end of Dunbarton, after 1 mile of paved road and 0.4 mi. dirt road.  Park on the RIGHT SIDE ONLY when you begin to see cars lined up, and walk to the boathouse; there is very little room to turn around at the boathouse, unless you are dropping off someone with mobility impairment.

 

NEIRA CHAMPIONSHIPS AT LAKE QUINSIGAMOND, WORCESTER , MA

Take I-93 South to I495 South, then Exit 25B onto I-290 West (Worcester). From I-290 take Exit 22 (Main Street). Turn right at the end of the ramp. Turn left at the second traffic light onto Plantation Street. Turn left onto North Road (between the Mercadente Funeral Home and UMass Medical Center). Proceed to Lake Avenue and turn right. The Regatta Point Park entrance is one hundred yards on the left. Note: All spectators must park in – and pay for – the Medical Center garage (turn uphill to the right, past the park entrance). LOWELL, MA

Take I-89 South to I-93 South. After the toll booth, continue on I-293 South, which becomes the Everett Turnpike and eventually Rte 3 through Nashua. Continue on Rte. 3 across the Massachusetts line and get off at Exit 32. Circle around to the 3rd right turn (immediately after crossing over the highway) onto Drum Hill Road. Shortly after the Ford dealership, bear left onto Wood Street and across the Merrimack River bridge. Turn right at the end of the bridge and park anywhere along the road. The boathouse is about ½ mile down the road and always crowded with boat trailers. There is lots of space for lawn chairs up and down the river, and great ice cream across the street! This is a great course for using binoculars.

 

GLASTONBURY, FARMINGTON, CT

Take I-91 South to Hartford, and turn onto I-84 West.  From I-84, take Exit 39 for Rte. 4 West.  (Stay straight off exit ramp)  Follow Rte. 4 around the S curve to first major intersection and stay in the left lane.  Turn left onto Rte. 10 South and follow to the 2nd traffic light. Turn right onto Meadow Road, then go straight at the fork onto Red Oak Hill, across fields. Turn right into Tunxis Mead Park (green sign on road). Follow the paved road to end, past the baseball and softball fields, and onto the gravel road through gates to wide parking area.  ALL SPECTATORS MUST PARK HERE. food supplies may be dropped off near the river, but please have all vehicles moved back to the parking area before races start.

 

NORTHFIELD MT. HERMON  

Take I-91 south to Massachusetts Exit 28 and turn left off the ramp.  Follow Route 10 east for 3 miles and go past the front entrance to the Mount Herman campus.  Take the next right onto Main Road.  Take the first left off Main Road (about 1/2 mile) and drive down toward the river.

Parking: Park before trailers at the intersection above the landing, and carry chairs and other items since there is not enough turn-around room for drop-off at the landing. ** Please do not drive past the baseball field to park because there will be a lacrosse game in the afternoon too. ***

 

RIVERSIDE BOAT CLUB, CAMBRIDGE, MA

Take I-89 south to Concord, then I-93 south to Boston.  Easiest directions:  Take I-93 South all the way into Boston, and exit onto the Mass PIke/Route 90 West.  Take the Cambridge/Allston exit off the Mass Pike, and stay to the Cambridge side of the ramp.  You will exit toward a Doubletree Guest Street hotel on the right.  Go over the River Street Bridge (which is straight ahead) and turn right onto Memorial Drive/Route 3 South.  Riverside Boathouse is 769 Memorial Drive, the first boathouse on the right.   Most people will be watching from the finish line, so continue driving about one mile further on Memorial Drive (toward Boston), near the Hyatt Hotel. (** For those familiar with Boston, instead of taking I-93 into Boston and the Mass PIke, take Exit 26 onto Storrow Drive.  Follow signs for Route 3 North — toward Gov’t Center/Kendal Square, then toward Rte 3N/Cambridge/Memorial Drive.  Continue following Memorial Drive/Rte 3 North to the boathouse on the left.  To watch from the finish line, however, do not drive all the way to the boathouse; look for parking near the Hyatt Hotel.)

Parking:  There is no parking at Riverside Boat Club.  The race course ends about a mile down river from Riverside Boathouse.  It ends near the BU bridge and starts near the MIT boathouse (2 miles downriver.)  To watch from the finish line, keep heading down Memorial Drive to the Hyatt hotel on your left, and park on the road.

 

WORCESTER-DRC (DONAHUE ROWING CENTER)  (Note there are two race courses at Worcester)

Take I-89 to I-93 South and follow signs to Boston when I-93 splits.  Continue on I-93 and once in Massachusetts, exit onto I-495 South.  From 495, take Exit /I-290 West(Worcester).  Get off at Exit 22 (Main St.)  Turn right at the end of the ramp.  Turn left at the first traffic light onto North Quinsigamond Ave.  The Donahue Rowing Center is a quarter mile on the right.

 

PHILLIPS EXETER ACADEMY – EXETER, NH

Take I-89 South to Concord, then I-93 South toward Manchester.  When I-93 splits, continue following I-93 toward Boston.  Take Exit 7/Route 101 East (a LEFT exit), toward the Seacoast and Portsmouth.  Follow Route 101 and get off at Exit 10 (Route 85/Newfields Road).  Turn right at the end of the ramp onto Rte. 85, where you will be following the river.

Parking:  Turn left into the Children’s Center parking lot.  If you miss the sign, go to the end of Rte 85 and at the stop sign, turn left onto Water Street and then an immediate left into the parking lot for St. Anthony’s Cafe, which adjoins the Children’s Center lot.

 

A few reminders:

  • Your child’s boat will launch from the dock approximately 30 minutes before race time – a great time to cheer the rowers and take a photo.
  • Don’t forget to bring sunscreen, hat, water, snacks, lawn chairs, and a windbreaker or rain coat.
  • Viewers with mobility impairments can be dropped off at the race site; please check for handicap parking rules.
